Biography

Sophia Tinger, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in prenatal care, obstetrics, family planning, newborn care, and women's health.

Dr. Tinger earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern. She completed her residency in family medicine at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She also gained advanced training through a fellowship in maternal child health – an obstetrics-equivalent program at – John Peter Smith Hospital.

Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

Dr. Tinger is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Texas Academy of Family Physicians, the Texas Medical Association, and the Dallas County Medical Society.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Tinger enjoys spending time with her daughters, photography, reading, solving escape rooms, and exploring restaurants with her husband.
