Biography
Stephen Seiler, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Breast Imaging Division. He also serves as the Medical Director of Breast Imaging for the UT Southwestern University Hospitals and Clinics. His clinical interests include the early detection and treatment of breast cancer.
Dr. Seiler holds a bachelor's degree in Plan II Honors and a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from the University of Texas at Austin. He received his medical degree at UT Southwestern, and began radiology residency training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He completed his radiology residency training at UT Southwestern, and then received advanced training through a fellowship program in breast imaging.
Dr. Seiler's research focuses on innovative techniques using breast magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission mammography. His collaboration with colleagues in Radiation Oncology led to the development of an ultrasound-guided approach to placing markers to help determine the location of radiation beams during treatment.
A career marked by service
At UT Southwestern, Dr. Seiler serves on a number of committees related to radiology and breast imaging. He’s also an active member of a variety of national and international professional organizations including the Radiological Society of North America, the American Board of Radiology, the American Medical Association, the Society of Breast Imaging, the American Roentgen Ray Society, and the Texas Radiological Society,
Dr. Seiler has been recognized for both for his clinical and research work, as well as for his excellence in teaching. The American Roentgen Ray Society awarded him two Certificates of Merit for electronic exhibits, and the Radiological Society of North America awarded him a Certificate of Merit for his educational exhibit on fat injections for reconstructed breasts. UT Southwestern honored him with the Golden Apple Teaching Award in 2015.
