Biography
Steven Leach, M.D., M.S., is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and a member of its Division of General Internal Medicine. He holds the Irene Wadel and Robert Atha Jr. Professorship of Internal Medicine, in Honor of John W. Burnside, M.D., and serves as Associate Vice Chair of Clinical Operations.
Originally from Nevada, Dr. Leach holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he graduated magna cum laude. He earned his medical degree at the University of Chicago and completed internal medicine/primary care residency training at UT Southwestern. He also holds a master's degree in management and administrative science from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1996. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2002, and to Professor in 2006. Throughout that time, he served in various administrative roles, including Chief of Staff for Zale Lipshy Pavilion and Chief Medical Officer of University Hospital. He currently serves as Medical Director of the Multi-Specialty Clinic.
His research interests include the safety and efficacy of complementary and alternative medicines.
Dr. Leach is an active member of the American College of Physicians, Texas Medical Association, and Dallas County Medical Society.
