The Texas Behavioral Health Center is Dallas-Fort Worth’s first state-funded psychiatric hospital. It is operated by UT Southwestern Medical Center in partnership with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), which owns the facility.
Designed to deliver highly advanced, patient-centered care in a modern, healing environment, the 505,000-square-foot facility will house 292 beds – 200 for adult patients and 92 for children and adolescents when fully operational.
The hospital is opening in phases, beginning in summer 2026. It will provide comprehensive behavioral health treatment and feature private patient rooms, abundant access to natural light and nature, and thoughtfully designed spaces that promote recovery. The center will also provide training to all behavioral health disciplines.
