Procedural/Interventional Pain Management

Procedural or interventional pain procedures are minimally invasive procedures that usually involve an injection of local anesthetic or anti-inflammatory steroid at the site of pain or nerve.

The simplistic procedures can be performed in the clinic during an office appointment. The more complex procedures are scheduled at the University Hospital Outpatient Surgery Center.

During every procedure, UT Southwestern is dedicated to providing the best possible clinical care focused on patient safety and quality outcomes. 

Interventional procedures include:

• Abdominal wall block
• Botox for chronic migraine
• Celiac, stellate, lumbar sympathetic block
• Epidural steroid injection
• Facet injection
• Ganglion impar block
• Intercostal nerve block
• Intraarticular injection
• Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve block
• Nerve blocks (cluneal, pudendal, occipital)
• Radiofrequency ablation
• Sacroiliac joint block and ablation
• Selective nerve root block
• Spinal Cord Stimulator Trial
• Superior hypogastric block
• Trigeminal ganglion injection
• Trigger point injection.

At this time, The Eugene McDermott Center for Pain Management does not perform surgical placements or assume care of intrathecal pumps.
