Biography
Anvy Nguyen, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in breast surgery.
Dr. Nguyen earned her medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco. She completed a residency in general surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, followed by a research fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She gained advanced training in breast surgical oncology through a combined fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Certified by the American Board of Surgery, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022. She previously served as a faculty member at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Department of Surgery and Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Nguyen is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the Society of Surgical Oncology.
She is the author of several articles in peer-reviewed journals related to her areas of interest, and her recent publications include contributions to the books Managing BRCA Mutation Carriers and Current Breast Cancer Reports.
In 2022, Dr. Nguyen received the Excellence in Teaching Award from Tufts University School of Medicine.
Personal Note
Dr. Nguyen is pleased to return to her home state of Texas. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and creating art through various forms of media. She particularly enjoys drawing portraits and sculpting.
