Biography

Arooj Babar, M.D., RhMSUS, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Rheumatic Diseases. Her clinical interests include vasculitis, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and healthcare disparities.

Originally from Pakistan, Dr. Babar earned her medical degree from Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi. She then received internal medicine residency training at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and completed advanced training through a rheumatology fellowship at Stanford University, where she also earned her Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Certification in  Rheumatology (RhMSUS).

Prior to joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 2026, Dr. Babar gained extensive experience managing complex cases in a high-volume, acute care setting in Fort Worth.

Dr. Babar's research interests in rheumatic diseases are reflected in her clinical exposure to autoimmune and autoinflammatory conditions. Her investigations have resulted in a sustained commitment to improving diagnostic clarity, treatment safety, and preventive strategies for patients with complex rheumatic illnesses.

She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Physicians.

Personal Note

Outside of medicine, Dr. Babar enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
