Hena Tewari, M.D.

Biography

Hena Tewari, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in obstetrics emergencies, acute gynecologic medical and surgical care, and patient safety and quality care in labor and delivery.

Dr. Tewari earned her medical degree at King George’s Medical University in India, where she also completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology. She then completed an additional residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, where she was the Administrative Chief Resident.

Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Tewari joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2021 after spending several years in private practice in Indiana and about a decade in academic medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), where she served as an Associate Professor and Clerkship Director for third-year medical students.

She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, the Medical Council of India, and the Texas Medical Association. She has published broadly on topics related to her areas of expertise.

Dr. Tewari has received numerous honors for her work, including the 2019 Regional Dean’s Distinguished Service Award from TTUHSC and the 2015 National Excellence in Teaching Award from the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics.
