Biography
Isamu Tachibana, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in urologic malignancies including bladder, kidney, prostate, adrenal, penile, and testicular cancer.
Dr. Tachibana grew up in Texas and earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School. He completed a urology residency and urologic oncology fellowship at Indiana University Hospital, where he received advanced training in complex oncologic procedures including retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, procedures for locally advanced kidney cancer, and various urinary diversions such as continent urinary reservoirs (Indiana Pouch) and neobladders.
He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.
Dr. Tachibana is a member of the American Urological Association and the Society of Urologic Oncology.
His research interests include the treatment of testicular cancer. He has published research in a variety of medical journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, European Urology, Journal of Urology, and Urologic Oncology. He also serves as a reviewer for these journals.
Personal Note
Dr. Tachibana’s interests outside of medicine include hiking, playing tennis, and spending time with family.
