Biography
Jenny Riecke, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology and the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in palliative care for patients with neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia, Parkinson's, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), as well as in diagnosing and treating neuromuscular disorders, including myasthenia gravis.
Dr. Riecke earned her medical degree at the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She completed a residency in neurology and received advanced training through fellowships in neuromuscular medicine and palliative care at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in hospice and palliative medicine and by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in neurology and neuromuscular medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.
Dr. Riecke started a palliative care clinic within the UT Southwestern Department of Neurology to serve patients with neurodegenerative diseases. She also previously served as Medical Director of the Aston Infusion Clinic.
In providing palliative care for progressive neurologic disorders, she addresses management of symptoms related to neurodegenerative diseases and helps patients and families make complex medical decisions and advance care plans.
Dr. Riecke’s research interests include how socioeconomic, cultural, and other factors affect medical decision-making in patients with ALS. She is also interested in improving palliative care training for residents, fellows, and medical students. She has delivered regional invited lectures, contributed to the book Case Files: Neurology, and published articles and case reports related to her areas of expertise.
She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and the International Neuropalliative Care Society.
