Biography

John Zimmerman, M.S., CGC, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Health Professions Department of Healthcare Sciences and a board-certified genetic counselor with the UT Southwestern Cancer Genetics Program.

Mr. Zimmerman's clinical and research interests focus on the use of health technology and alternate service delivery models to increase access to genetic services, cascade testing, and genetic counselor professional development. He has held multiple leadership state and national leadership positions with the Texas Society of Genetic Counselors, National Society of Genetic Counselors, and Genetic Counselor Educators Association. In addition to his clinical role, Mr. Zimmerman also serves as the Director of Fieldwork for the UT Southwestern Master of Science in Genetic Counseling Program.

Mr. Zimmerman earned a Master of Science in Molecular, Cellular, Development Biology and Genetics (Genetic Counseling Emphasis) from the University of Minnesota in 2017 and a Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola University Chicago.
