Biography
Kris Gaston, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Urology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in urologic oncology.
Dr. Gaston earned his medical degree at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. After his residency in urology at the University of North Carolina, he gained advanced training in urologic oncology through a clinical and research fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Certified by the American Board of Urology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022 after being in practice for 15 years in North Carolina.
Dr. Gaston’s clinical interests include minimally invasive robotic surgery for prostate, kidney, and bladder cancer. In addition to robotic expertise, he is a specialist in complex urinary orthotopic and continent catheterizable neobladder reconstruction, with quality of life and sexual preservation emphasis in younger patients. He is also trained in post-chemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection for young testicular cancer patients. His main research interest is ethnic disparities in prostate cancer.
A manuscript reviewer for Urologic Oncology, Dr. Gaston is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Urological Association, and the Society of Urologic Oncology.
Dr. Gaston has presented widely and published numerous articles and reviews in academic journals related to his areas of interest. His recent publications include a contribution to Campbell-Walsh-Wein Urology.
He has been listed as a Top Doctor consistently by Castle Connolly and Charlotte Magazine.
