Biography
Natalia Swiatowiec, M.D., is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. As a head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgeon, she specializes in head and neck microvascular reconstruction, oncologic surgery, and skin cancer reconstruction.
Dr. Swiatowiec earned her medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She completed her residency in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at UI Health, where she served as Administrative Chief Resident. She then gained advanced training through a fellowship in head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery at UT Southwestern.
Her clinical and research interests focus on optimizing workflow in free flap reconstruction, enhancing both functional and aesthetic outcomes in head and neck reconstruction, and improving quality of life following cancer surgery through comprehensive, multidisciplinary approaches to patient recovery and well-being.
Dr. Swiatowiec is an active member of the American Head and Neck Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. She has been recognized for her excellence in surgical technique and leadership, earning first place in the 2025 Future Leaders: Advanced Techniques in Head & Neck Reconstruction competition for complex microvascular reconstruction and the 2024 Advanced Resident Head & Neck Bootcamp Award for Best Reconstruction.
Personal Note
Outside of the operating room, Dr. Swiatowiec enjoys traveling, experiencing new cultures, trying new restaurants, and participating in outdoor activities.
