Biography

Sei Y. Chung, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in pediatric and adult tumors and cancers of the sinuses and skull base, inflammatory sinonasal disease, and anterior skull-base defects.

Dr. Chung graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her medical degree at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and graduated with honors and received the Excellence in Otolaryngology Award. She completed a residency in Otolaryngology at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medical Center. She then received advanced training in rhinology and skull base surgery through a fellowship at UT Southwestern.

Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

In 2024, Dr. Chung was named a Castle Connolly Rising Star, and then in 2025, she was named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. Also in 2025, Dr. Chung was awarded the distinction of a Texas Super Doctors Rising Star.

Dr. Chung is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the American Rhinologic Society, the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS), Korean American Otolaryngology Society, the Dallas Academy of Otolaryngology, the Dallas County Medical Society and the Texas Association of Otolaryngology.

She has been invited to deliver numerous presentations and lectures at national and international meetings. She has contributed to over 35 written publications and textbooks within several prestigious journals, including JAMA, Journal of Neurological Surgery, The Laryngoscope, International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology, and Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery. She also currently serves as the lead principal investigator in clinical trials investigating therapeutic treatments in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis.

Personal Note

When she’s not working, Dr. Chung enjoys spending time with her husband and their two sons, as well as golfing, cooking, and hiking.
