Biography

(Alvin) Thomas Hyslop, M.D., a 1988 graduate of UT Southwestern Medical School, joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern in 2012 following 20 years of private practice in Dallas. He is a member of the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology and serves as Medical Director of UT Southwestern’s Ob/Gyn and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic in Las Colinas.

A native Texan, Dr. Hyslop earned his B.S. in biology from Texas A&M University. After completing medical school, he pursued his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Paul Medical Center before beginning his longstanding career in private practice.

Dr. Hyslop is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and provides a full spectrum of obstetrical and gynecological services, including routine and high-risk pregnancy care, well-woman exams, menopause management, management of gynecologic conditions, and gynecologic surgery. Trained in minimally invasive surgical techniques, he offers options designed to reduce side effects and shorten recovery time. While he is highly skilled in surgery, he also emphasizes conservative approaches when appropriate, helping patients find effective nonsurgical solutions—especially those experiencing menstrual irregularities that may respond well to minor interventions.

Dr. Hyslop has been recognized repeatedly for his excellence in clinical care. He has been named a Texas Monthly Super Doctor for at least 15 years, earning him the Legacy Status designation.
