Ever wonder what kind of research wins a Nobel Prize, or what the life of a medical student is like? We know an interesting new place where you can find out – the interactive Hawn Foundation Patient and Family Resource Center in William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital.
As an academic medical center, UT Southwestern not only has a mission to provide patient care using the latest advanced treatments, but also to conduct research leading to tomorrow’s cures and to educate future health care professionals. You’ll find our research and education missions on prominent display in the Center, which is located just inside the main entrance of the hospital.
With five large touch-screen displays, the Center highlights UT Southwestern’s history of bench-to-bedside discoveries and therapies. The Center also offers online access to information on the causes, treatments, and cures of diseases; information about clinical trials; and the opportunity to send electronic cards and well-wishes to patients.
Planned with guidance from staff and consultants of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, the Patient and Family Resource Center is free and open to the public. The next time you’re in Clements University Hospital, drop on by. We’d love to see you.
