Biography

Ahmad Alhourani, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in the surgical treatment of movement disorders, including essential tremor, Parkinson’s disease, and dystonia; intractable cancer and facial pain; psychiatric disorders; and tumors.

Dr. Alhourani earned his medical degree at the University of Jordan School of Medicine. He completed a residency in neurological surgery at the University of Louisville Hospital and gained advanced training in functional neurosurgery through a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Alhourani completed a neurological surgery research fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.

He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025.

Dr. Alhourani is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the Society for Neuroscience.

He has delivered presentations, contributed to the book Deep Brain Stimulation: Techniques and Practices, and published more than 30 academic articles related to his areas of expertise.

Personal Note

When he’s not at work, Dr. Alhourani enjoys running, hiking, cycling, and skiing.
