John Hancock, M.D.

Biography

J. Matt Hancock, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in bleeding and clotting disorders, including hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, and other nonmalignant blood disorders such as sickle cell disease.

Dr. Hancock earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern, where he also completed his residency in internal medicine. He gained advanced training in hematology and oncology through a fellowship at the University of Michigan Medical School.

Certified in hematology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

Dr. Hancock is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society, and the Dallas County Medical Society.

He has been a review editor for the journal Frontiers in Hematology since 2021.

Outside of work, Dr. Hancock enjoys food, wine, beer, travel, and the outdoors.
