Martin Kosztowski, M.D.

Biography

Martin Kosztowski, M.D., M.P.H., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in adult cardiac surgery, including management of coronary artery disease, valve disease, aortic aneurysms, heart transplantation, lung transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support

Dr. Kosztowski earned his medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. He completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center. He received advanced training through a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at The Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine and a thoracic transplant surgery and mechanical circulatory support fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

He also holds a master’s degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University, where he later completed a research fellowship applying advanced biostatistical and epidemiological methods to analyze outcomes after heart and lung transplantation.

Dr. Kosztowski joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2026.

His research has been published in leading journals, including the American Journal of Transplantation, and he has presented his work at international conferences such as the International Society for Heart & Lung Transplantation.

When he’s not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, exercising, and working on home improvement projects.
