Biography

Ronak Desai, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Department of Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in spine surgery with a focus on endoscopic spine surgery, lumbar and cervical disc replacement, complex reconstructive spine surgery, and motion preservation spinal surgery.

After earning his medical degree from Rush Medical College, Dr. Desai completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. He received advanced training through a fellowship in spine surgery with subspecialty training in adult and pediatric deformity and reconstruction at Houston Methodist Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Texas Children’s Hospital.

Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2025.

Dr. Desai is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and AO Spine.

He has delivered poster presentations and published academic articles related to his areas of expertise.

Personal Note

When he’s not at work, Dr. Desai enjoys golfing, hiking, and perfecting barbecue. He also has recently taken up free diving.
