Your Appointment

What to Bring

On the day of your appointment, please allow time for parking and patient sign-in. Please also bring the following items:

  • Current insurance card
  • Method of payment
  • Complete list of current medications and dosages (including over-the-counter medications, herbs, and vitamins)

To make the most of your time with the doctor, make a list of questions ahead of time and bring them to your appointment.

If This Is Your First Appointment

If you are new to the clinic, you can expect your doctor and technician to perform a thorough history and visual exam lasting 1 to 2 hours. Your physician may request you undergo additional tests in the clinic, such as a visual field exam, which takes 20 to 30 minutes to perform.

We try to see patients as soon as possible, and make an effort to never turn patients away. However, emergencies do occur that require the immediate attention of your physician, and may cause a delay in the schedule. We appreciate your patience.

Canceling an Appointment

If you need to cancel your appointment, please notify the clinic at least 24 hours in advance so that we can accommodate other patients waiting to schedule an appointment.

Dilation and Driving

To accurately follow your entire visual pathway, your doctor may dilate your eyes. Your pupils will take between 20 to 30 minutes to dilate, during which time you may sit in the waiting or exam room. If you anticipate your exam will include dilation, you may want to arrange for someone to drive you to and from your appointment.

Medication Refills

It is very important that you do not run out of your medication. Be sure that you have sufficient refills to last until your next appointment with your ophthalmologist. We are happy to provide you with a written prescription upon request.

If you run out of refills, please call your pharmacy and your pharmacist will fax a refill request to us. Please allow us 24 to 48 hours to process refill requests.
