Biography

Mahvash Husain, M.D., is an Assistant Instructor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in cancer survivorship care and obesity medicine.

Dr. Husain earned her medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed a residency in family medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she also received advanced training through a cancer survivorship fellowship, earning a distinction.

Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2026.

In addition to her areas of specialization, Dr. Husain has a strong clinical interest in family medicine resident education.

A member of numerous professional associations, including the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the North American Primary Care Research Group, and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, she also serves on the editorial board of Texas Family Medicine Research Journal.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Husain enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
