Multidisciplinary Approach to Childhood Sarcoma

Childhood sarcoma is a pediatric cancer that starts in the bones or soft tissue. Tumors typically grow in areas such as the bones, muscles, tendons, fat, and blood vessels, and may spread to other parts of the body.

UT Southwestern Pediatric Group’s cancer specialists are experts in treating all types of childhood sarcoma. We belong to the Children’s Oncology Group, a clinical trials organization that’s supported by the National Cancer Institute, as well as several other clinical trial programs. These relationships give us access to the latest treatments, information, and support from all over the world.

Partnering with Children’s Health, we are a national leader in treating and researching different types of pediatric sarcomas. Through our team approach, specialists in various areas work together to ensure that your child receives the best possible treatment.

Our skilled multidisciplinary team includes pediatric oncologists, pediatric surgeons, pediatric radiation oncologists, pediatric pathologists, and pediatric radiologists who are specially trained in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of childhood cancers – especially childhood sarcoma.

Compassionate, Knowledgeable Care for Childhood Sarcoma

In addition to delivering the very best care to children with sarcoma today, we are leading the way in research that will help develop even more effective treatments tomorrow.

Our doctors are the only childhood sarcoma specialists in North Texas who are part of a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation means we offer patients the ability to participate in a broad range of clinical trials, giving children access to therapies that might not be available at other facilities.
