Nationally Ranked in Neurology

UT Southwestern Medical Center is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation's top 20 hospitals for neurology and neurosurgery.

General neurology is the starting point at UT Southwestern for patients without a neurological diagnosis or who have not yet seen a neurologist but believe they have a neurological condition.

Expertise in Evaluation and Diagnosis

UT Southwestern’s general neurologists have extensive experience in evaluating and diagnosing patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. Sometimes, we treat patients in our General Neurology Clinic, and other times, we refer patients to one of our other specialty clinics.

What We Treat

Symptoms that bring patients to the General Neurology Clinic include:

  • Headache
  • Tingling
  • Numbness
  • Nerve pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Weakness
  • Twitching
  • Double vision

We see a large number of headache patients and treat cluster headaches and migraine.

One of our latest specialties is aerospace neurology. General neurologist Alison Leston, M.D., Ph.D., treats pilots who need Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) clearance.
