The knee is the largest joint in the body and a common source of injury. Knee injuries are often the result of repetitive overuse or acute trauma from an impact or twisting stress.

Whatever the cause of knee pain, the experienced orthopedic specialists at UT Southwestern are here to help patients get back to the activities they love.

  • Knee bursitis
  • Meniscus tears
  • Sports-related knee and lower leg injuries

  • Tendonitis (patellar tendonitis)
  • Torn cartilage

Knee Services

We offer a variety of nonsurgical and surgical treatments to relieve knee pain and restore stability and function of the joint. When medication fails to control knee pain, we offer physical therapy to strengthen the knee and braces or casts to stabilize the joint and help it heal.

For injuries that require surgical treatments, our surgeons offer knee repair surgery, such as knee osteotomy and knee arthroscopy.

For patients with a torn ACL, we offer knee reconstruction surgery, providing a specialized anatomic approach to the procedure that results in less postoperative pain and faster recovery.

When the knee joint is deteriorating beyond repair, our expert surgeons offer total and partial knee reconstruction and replacement surgery to replace the joint.
