Biography
Shamin Masrour, D.O., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in treating migraines, facial pains such as trigeminal neuralgia, and headaches in women.
Dr. Masrour earned her medical degree at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a residency in neurology at the University of Texas at Austin and gained advanced training in headache medicine through a fellowship at UT Southwestern.
Board certified in neurology with a subspecialty certification in headache medicine, she he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2016.
Dr. Masrour is the Clinical Leader of UT Southwestern’s Facial Pain Program and the Associate Fellowship Director in Headache for the Department of Neurology. She also serves as Faculty Advisor for the Student Interest Group in Neurology (SIGN) and is a member of the Clinical Competency Committee and the Academic Recognitions Committee.
In addition, she is active in numerous professional organizations, including the Facial Pain Association, the International Headache Society, and the Dallas County Medical Society, for which she serves on the Communications Committee.
A prolific author and presenter, Dr. Masrour’s research interests include cranial neuralgias, particularly trigeminal neuralgia, and migraine therapy. Her recent publications include co-authored chapters for the books Pain Management for Clinicians: A Guide to Assessment and Treatment and SCORE Curriculum for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
