Biography

Freddie Ray Jones Jr., M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

He earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he also completed an internship in surgery and performed a residency in ophthalmology. He received advanced training in neuro-ophthalmology through a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education.

Dr. Jones also holds an MBA in health care management from the University of Dallas.

Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2000.

Dr. Jones is a member of several professional organizations, including the Texas Ophthalmological Association, the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, and the International Neuro-Ophthalmology Society. He has published several academic articles.

He has been named a Texas Monthly Super Doctor and a D Magazine Best Doctor.
