Biography

Eric Michael Bass, M.D., is a Faculty Associate in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in robotic surgery (specifically, colon and rectal resections for benign and malignant disease), trans-anal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) resection of benign rectal tumors, and colonoscopy.

Dr. Bass earned his medical degree at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Illinois and received advanced training in colon and rectal surgery through a fellowship at Cook County Hospital.

Certified by the American Board of Surgery, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020.

Dr. Bass is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He’s a member of several other professional organizations, including the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the Illinois Surgical Society. He is a past president of the Chicago Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
