Biography
John Alexander, M.D., MBA, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He serves as Medical Director of Pain Services and as Director of the Regional Anesthesia Service for the Parkland Health & Hospital System.
Dr. Alexander earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School, where he also completed his residency in anesthesiology. He received advanced training in pain medicine through a fellowship at the University of Cincinnati. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration with a focus in health care leadership and management from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both anesthesiology and pain management, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2011.
Dr. Alexander's primary research and clinical interests focus on interventional pain management, regional anesthesia, and technological innovation in anesthesiology.
He served as the 2018-2019 President of the UT Southwestern Faculty Senate and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and the International Anesthesia Research Society.
