Sonia Arias-Franklin, M.D.

Biography

Sonia Arias-Franklin, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in high-risk obstetrical care, preconception and infertility care, comprehensive women's preventive and gynecologic care, and advanced robotic and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery techniques.

Dr. Arias-Franklin earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School. She also completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UT Southwestern.

Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2018.

Dr. Arias-Franklin is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Dallas County Medical Society, and the American Medical Women’s Association.

In 2022, she was named a D Magazine Best Doctor.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Arias-Franklin enjoys spending time with her husband and their two grown children. They are avid restaurant goers, music lovers, and outdoor enthusiasts. She also enjoys gardening, traveling, exploring new places, and trying new things. She serves as a volunteer physician providing free gynecologic care to indigent underserved patients. She is a fluent Spanish speaker
