UT Southwestern Pediatric Group at Plano’s pediatric ophthalmologists care for children with eye conditions, including inherited disorders such as congenital glaucoma and cataracts. With a focus on treating complicated diseases of the eye, our doctors provide personalized care for everything from amblyopia (lazy eye) to cone dystrophy and ocular infections or injuries.

Our patients have access to the latest and most effective treatments and technologies for diagnosis and treatment of common and uncommon conditions such as strabismus (adult and pediatric), retinopathy of prematurity, congenital cataract, and lazy eye.

We specialize in treating:

  • Amblyopia (lazy eye): Vision problems in one or both eyes that can occur even though there might not be an obvious problem in the eye itself
  • Cataracts: Occur when the normally clear lens of the eye becomes cloudy, affecting vision
  • Esotropia: A type of strabismus in which one or both eyes turn inward
  • Exotropia: A type of strabismus in which one or both of the eyes turn outward
  • Congenital glaucoma: A condition, often resulting from high pressure inside the eye (intraocular pressure), that causes vision loss and can lead to blindness
  • Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP): Abnormal blood vessel growth in the retina of babies who are born prematurely
  • Strabismus (misalignment of the eyes): A disorder in which the eyes are misaligned, causing one eye or both eyes to turn in different directions, such as upward, downward, outward, or inward
