Biography

Emily Holthaus, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in maternal-fetal medicine.

After earning her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University’s Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Dr. Holthaus completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Cleveland Clinic. She gained advanced training in maternal-fetal medicine through a fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, where she also earned a master’s degree in clinical research methods and epidemiology.

Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Holthaus joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2023.

Her clinical and research interests include diabetes in pregnancy, obesity in pregnancy, health literacy, and the developmental origins of health and disease. She has presented her research widely and has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals related to her areas of interest.

In 2022, Dr. Holthaus received the Danielle Peress, MD Memorial Fund Award from the Foundation of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Personal Note

When she’s not at work, Dr. Holthaus enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, going to the theater, crafting, playing board games, and hiking.
