Supportive Care

When patients first arrive at the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, they notice that the way we approach cancer is different. We know how this illness can uniquely affect many areas of life. So our goal is to make sure we’re addressing each patient’s individual needs.

To reach this goal, we have a specially trained support staff on hand to meet with patients and their families at any time. We also offer classes, meetings, and appointments focused on specific issues patients might be experiencing to develop an integrative plan that meet needs and wishes. This includes: aromatherapy, massage, social and emotional support, sex therapy, nutrition counseling, and more.

Our team also has specialists in integrative oncology.

Integrative oncology aims to optimize health, quality of life, and clinical outcomes across the cancer care continuum. It is defined by the Society for Integrative Oncology as a patient-centered, evidence-informed field of cancer care that utilizes mind and body practices, natural products, and/or lifestyle modifications from different traditions alongside conventional cancer treatments.
