Supportive Care

When patients first arrive at the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, they notice that the way we approach cancer is different. We know how this illness can uniquely affect many areas of life. So our goal is to make sure we’re addressing each patient’s individual needs.

To reach this goal, we have a specially trained support staff on hand to meet with patients and their families at any time. We also offer classes, meetings, and appointments focused on specific issues patients might be experiencing.

Our team is available to patients and their families from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. We have specialists in nurse navigation, cancer psychology, oncology nutrition, social work, transitional care coordination, spiritual support, music therapy, and integrative therapy.

Introduction to Your Supportive Care Team

From the moment of diagnosis, our comprehensive supportive care team will help you navigate resources and resolve challenges related to cancer. Watch one of our patients share how each member of her team, including an oncology nurse navigator, social worker, registered dietitian, spiritual care professional, and music therapist, played a unique and critical role in her treatment journey.

Cancer Caregiver Support

Dinah Foster, OSW-C, and caregiver Judy Bokhart discuss the difficulties associated with caring for a loved one with cancer, the importance of self-care, and the support resources Simmons Cancer Center has available for caregivers.
