Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center
Young Adult Cancer Support
We now offer our support group in a hybrid format. You can join virtually or in person! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in participating.
Young adults living with cancer face unique challenges related to work, school, health insurance, relationships, sexuality, body image, fertility, spirituality, and emotional well-being. It can be hard for patients to meet each other on their own, but we are here to help!
Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks to encourage, strengthen, and empower young adults by providing support groups and social activities.
Upcoming Support Groups
We now offer our support group in a hybrid format. You can join virtually or in-person!
In-Person: Last Tuesday each month;
Virtual: Last Wednesday each month
To RSVP or for more information, please contact Alex Huffman, LCSW, OSW-C, at email@example.com or text/call 214-267-UTYA (8892).
Upcoming Social Events
Join us for casual hangouts and fun activities each month. Dates and times vary.
See what we've been doing and what's happening next in our e-newsletters.
Our program is growing! We want to support the partners and spouses of young adult patients who have been previously diagnosed with or are currently facing a cancer diagnosis. To join us for activities just for partners and spouses, please tell us a little bit about you on our YACS Spouses and Partners Contact Form.
'It's a relief to talk with people who have been in your shoes'
A group of cancer patients, ages 18-39, has forged a deep connection through the Young Adult Support Program at Simmons Cancer Center. They get together every couple of weeks, socialize, and share thoughts and experiences in a place where "people get it." Most of all, it reminds them they are not alone.
About Our Planning Committee
Our planning committee – a dedicated group of young adult patients who volunteer their time to inform and coordinate events – meets throughout the year to ensure we have plenty of opportunities for patients to connect.
