Oncology Aesthetics Consultations for Patients Living with Cancer
At the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, we want to help those with cancer look and feel their best during and after treatment. To achieve optimum healing, we believe in treating the whole person and providing a sense of empowerment.
We seek to improve well-being by complementing traditional medicine and surgical therapies with relaxing treatments such as skin care and overall wellness therapies – all performed with care and a passionate touch.
We are excited to offer a partnership with the Ricardo Fisas Natura Bissé Foundation, a nonprofit that provides those navigating cancer with free skin, hair, and makeup sessions by an oncology-trained aesthetician. These services are available, free of charge, at UT Southwestern and various locations throughout Dallas-Fort Worth.
Esthetic Services
Patients enjoy a welcoming and supportive environment where a licensed, oncology-trained aesthetician helps minimize the effects of cancer treatments and helps patients strive for a better overall sense of well-being.
Oncology aesthetics services include:
- Advice on skin care
- Treatment for medication-related skin redness, rashes, and breakouts
- Treatment of overall skin dryness
- Treatment for nail bed and cuticle concerns
- Guidance on preventing UV damage from medication-related phototoxicity
- Guidance and comfort for those with mucositis and peripheral neuropathy (tingling, numbness, or pain in the hands and feet)
- Assistance in wig selection as a temporary hair loss solution
- One-on-one lessons on makeup techniques to restore the appearance of eyebrows and eyelashes
Best of all, these services are provided at no cost to patients!
In addition, we are honored to offer wigs at no cost to those in need, as supplies allow. While we do our best to provide this resource, availability may vary.

The Team
The Ricardo Fisas Natura Bissé Foundation’s passionate team of aestheticians, educators, and industry leaders is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of individuals facing cancer. Through articles in Brighter Magazine and specialized training programs for spa and salon professionals, it equips beauty and wellness experts with best practices for working with oncology clients – ensuring compassionate, safe, and effective care.
The Foundation’s expertise extends beyond the treatment room. Team members have delivered speeches and educational sessions for medical and beauty industry leaders, including MD Anderson Cancer Center, the Cancer Knowledge Network, the Oncology Nursing Society, the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators, Cancer Support Community, and various support groups.
Driven by a deep commitment to making a difference, the Ricardo Fisas Natura Bissé Foundation works to reach as many patients as possible, helping to restore confidence, comfort, and dignity through specialized care and education.
