Cancer Care Outpatient Building

In November, all clinics and patient care services in the Seay Biomedical Building at 2201 Inwood Road will move to our brand-new building just around the corner, at 6202 Harry Hines Blvd. This state-of-the-art, nine-story Cancer Care Outpatient Building will be the new clinical home of Simmons Cancer Center in Dallas.
Why We’re Moving
The new Cancer Care Outpatient Building will provide more room to deliver our nationally recognized care in a building designed specifically with our patients in mind. This move signifies our strong commitment to advancing cancer care and furthers our ability to, over time, serve more individuals and families who entrust us with their care. Importantly, our investigators and scientists will be able to work even more collaboratively with our clinicians and patients to find better treatments, cures, and preventions.
With more than 300,000 square feet, the Cancer Care Outpatient Building will provide ample space for multidisciplinary collaboration, along with room for telehealth visits, private treatment areas, genetic counseling, physical therapy, supportive care, imaging, counseling, acute care, clinical trials, and an on-site pharmacy – all features and services required for one-stop, patient-centered cancer care.
Moving into a larger space is a commitment to our current and future patients, as well as our staff and faculty, to be the exceptional destination for caring and discovery they all deserve.
Building Highlights
Our cancer care services will occupy all nine floors of the building with a layout that was thoughtfully designed to enhance the patient experience and optimize care.
A few highlights:
Lobby
The lobby will be filled with natural light and feature original, commissioned artwork. Greeters will welcome patients and help direct them to their appointments.
Infusion Services
More infusion rooms will be available to patients. Most will be located on level 5, with private rooms on the 6th floor for bone marrow transplant and on the 8th floor for clinical research and trials.
Simmons Acute Care
Simmons Acute Care will have a dedicated space with 10 exam rooms and will be accessible from the garage-side building entrance. While Simmons Acute Care offers an alternative to the emergency room for some patients, the clinic will have four ambulance bays nearby to quickly transfer patients to Clements University Hospital when necessary.
Food Services and Other Amenities
We’ll have an easily accessible cafeteria featuring healthy menu options. The building will also have a coffee bar, a gift shop, and a retail pharmacy conveniently located in the corridor between the parking garage and the main lobby.
Clinical Trials
Furthering UT Southwestern’s mission of education, discovery, and healing, the new building will offer a sizable infrastructure for research and clinical trials that expands our capacity to translate the latest cancer discoveries in the laboratory to clinical care.
