Health care is constantly evolving, and we want to ensure our patients benefit from the latest medical research and knowledge, including the latest breakthroughs being pioneered at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Biomedical scientific research, medical education, information-sharing sessions, and community outreach are an everyday occurrence at Clements University Hospital.

As a teaching hospital, nearly every area of the care units supports our learning environment. Our hospital includes more than 40,000 square feet dedicated to research and learning – a testament to our commitment to advancing health care every day.

Research

As part of UT Southwestern, one of the top academic medical centers in the nation, Clements University Hospital continues a long legacy of cutting-edge research and innovation with work that has the power to directly benefit our current and future patients.

Research is part of everything we do:

  • Every patient care floor has space to support clinical research.
  • Patients, faculty, staff, and others can participate in cutting-edge research projects.
  • Patients who require advanced therapies have access to the most advanced efforts to create new therapies for their conditions.

Education

Ongoing education is also a vital part of Clements University Hospital. Our staff members are actively engaged in continuing medical education and training, and many of our health care professionals hold advanced certifications in their respective fields.

As an academic hospital, we are also highly involved in educating and training the next generation of health care providers. Students, residents, and fellows – as well as patients – benefit from the hospital’s dynamic learning environment, which includes multiple areas for collaborative, team-based education and care:

  • Conference rooms on patient floors feature interactive whiteboard technology and videoconferencing capabilities to allow faculty and students to gather and discuss cases with UT Southwestern teachers or experts anywhere in the world.
  • The Intensive Care Unit simulation room provides an active learning opportunity, where students can simulate a procedure or care scenario and then see it carried out in the hospital setting.
  • Multiple “touch down” areas provide an informal setting for smaller groups of faculty, residents, fellows, and students to confer, taking advantage of the real-time learning opportunities in a large, urban hospital.

In addition to staff and student education, we also seek to continually empower our patients and their loved ones with the latest health care knowledge. We provide medical education in several settings:

  • Technologically integrated patient rooms: Each patient room includes a large, flat-screen monitor that provides patients and visitors access to relevant health information, allowing them to learn together in a comfortable setting.
  • Patient and Family Resource Center: The Center, located off the atrium of Clements University Hospital, allows patients and family members to learn about specific conditions and key discoveries made by UT Southwestern physicians and researchers.
