In addition to being a hospital that offers specialty care, William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital provides excellent care for patients with all types of conditions – from common to complex – through our team of hospitalists. A hospitalist is an internal medicine doctor whose focus is on taking care of patients in the hospital.
Our team of hospitalists at Clements University Hospital knows how to deliver the most effective and efficient care, when to engage the hospital’s specialists, and how to arrange for anything you may need before leaving the hospital.
What to Expect
If you visit Clements University Hospital with a general internal medicine need, you may be assigned a hospitalist who will be primarily responsible for your care.
Examples of conditions that may involve a hospitalist include:
- Cellulitis and other infections
- Metabolic abnormalities
- Cardiac problems that don’t require a cardiologist
- Kidney failure and other kidney problems
- COPD, asthma
Our hospitalist will conduct an examination and, if necessary, order tests, prescribe therapies, and consult with specialists.
Throughout your stay, our hospitalists will ensure you are comfortable and receiving the care you need.
