Biography

Jessica Shields, D.O., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is a fellowship-trained, minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon who specializes in complex pelvic surgery for benign gynecologic conditions such as abnormal uterine bleeding, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and chronic pelvic pain. Her clinical interests include the treatment of vulvovaginal disorders. 

Dr. Shields earned her medical degree at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the State University of New York at Buffalo and received advanced training in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery through a fellowship at UT Southwestern. 

Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2017. 

Dr. Shields is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the AAGL (formerly the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists). In 2014, she earned the David H. Nichols Award for Overall Excellence in Gynecologic Surgery.

She has delivered numerous presentations and published several academic articles.
